QUT Wireless

QUT Wireless has recently changed to a new and simple method of accessing the network. The Cisco VPN client is no longer needed if you are running Windows XP, Vista or MacOS X.

QUT Wireless provides free access to QUT’s IT services (e.g. QUT Virtual, Email, Blackboard etc.) for staff and students.

A wireless network is a flexible system that provides convenient options (i.e. without the restraints of a network cable and a network port) for accessing QUT’s IT services, using your laptop computer or a PDA.

What do you need to use this service?

1. Computer Account
   • QUT-Access username and password
     
     
2. Hardware and software requirements
   • A laptop computer
     • with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or MAC OS X operating system
     • with wireless network card that is Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ for IEEE 802.11b/g
     • How to set up your device (Windows XP, Windows Vista, MAC OS X, Linux)

Service Availability

• Available to all QUT staff and students who have a QUT-Access username and password
• Subject to network maintenance on the QUT network
